The Tree

Scotch Pine: 1"-3" needles, lasts the longest (3-4 weeks)   Fraser Fir: short needles, small spaces & BIG ornaments  Eastern Pine: 2"-5" needles, bluish, too dense for dangling needles

Freshness:

Fir: needles will break when sharply snapped.

Pine: fresh needles will be flexible

Best  Test: Smell! Stronger the smell=the fresher the tree

Tree Stand: Wish I Had One Of  These: "The Swivel Straight Stand"  A foot pedal lets you rotate the tree and then locks it in place, whoa!! www.hammacher.com or    1-800-543-3366 (about $60).

Light Delight: When you hang the lights on a tree...look cool doing it, as if it's a master science that only you understand. TRUTH: it just doesnt matter how you do it. While standing back and admiring your skill as the light hanger extrodinaire, squint your eyes and look through your eye lashes. See any dark spots? OK, turn the tree lights on...now, see any dark spots? Move some lights to fill em in. Admire your work again and enlist others to atone to your greatness.

Got A Thin Tree: start at the trunk and hitch the lights on a branch till you reach the end, then double back and go to the next branch.
